Lacey & David’s Hockley Wedding

Congratulations Lacey & David who were married Sept 12, 2015 at Hockley Valley Resort. We had the pleasure of providing photo, cinema and our slow motion video booth – and WOW what an awesome wedding! Lacey is a video game designer, so we knew that this wedding was going to be a perfect fit for us… plus check out that CAKE TOPPER! The rain held off for us, which gave us plenty of opportunity to explore the grounds. The ceremony was held in the outdoor tent which was later transformed into our slow motion video booth (don’t miss the video below)

Lighting is Key!

The search for photography can be daunting for couples, that’s for sure. There are a lot of photographers out there with varying styles, abilities and price points. Knowing where to start and what to look for can seem like an impossible task. Our philosophy – find a style you love and people you connect with – after all you will likely spend more time with us than each other day of. In addition to that though, make sure you look at a photographers whole body of work… don’t only focus on natural light imagery. Don’t get us wrong, we adore natural light. Natural light is awesome, when its available. But let’s be honest, it’s not always available… and when it’s not, your photographer needs to know how to create and shape light using artificial light. This is a skill, an artform that should not be ignored or discounted. As wedding photographers, we can’t control the weather, locations, decor, guests… but its our job to make it all look incredible no matter what’s thrown at us day of… that’s the beauty and excitement of it.

Check out the behind the scenes photo below:

First we set up the couple using the Piano because of its reflective surface. We lit the couple using an LED Panel as the key light

We wanted to give them a little more separation from the background, so we added an off camera flash behind them to create a rim light and used the purple bottles as a framing device.

Lisa & John’s Royalton Wedding

Lisa and John were married August 28, 2015 at St. Paul’s in Toronto. It was a full day of fun and photographs. We began shooting both Lisa and John getting ready before a first look and traditional Tea Ceremony at their downtown Toronto Condo. After an outfit change, we did a second reveal before heading down to Distillery District for photos of the bride, groom and their wedding party. It was a stunning day and everyone was so excited to be outdoors in beautiful weather to celebrate Lisa and John’s wedding. After photos, we headed to St. Pauls for the ceremony and then to the Royalton for the reception. Congratulations Lisa and John!

Trisha & James – Barn Burner!

Just can’t stop loving this photo! These guys were the absolute best! And we were so happy to leave with this shot in the can! Can’t wait to show you guys the rest, in a few short weeks.

(photographically speaking, it’s complex image….there’s a delicate mix of different colour temperatures at work, all working in symphony….green fluorescent silos, blue hour sky, cold bare blue flash behind the couple as a rim light and the key/main light is an LED panel with a CTO (colour temperature orange) gel on it. Very proud of this shot!)
