We honestly can’t believe how our Star Wars wedding chase photo has exploded! We are thrilled that so many people are enjoying it all across the globe. Some of the recent press today with Leslie and PK being interviewed were (click to watch):
We are thrilled to have so much positive feedback on our Star Wars photo… the phone has literally been ringing off the hook with interviews, requests to publish and the likes. The latest sites to publish are mashable, geekologie, CBC, and a ton more! Check out this segment that aired today on Good Morning America … it’s the second segment in two days! We are over the moon!
We had a wonderful time shooting Leslie & PK. We’ve known them for many years in the Toronto comedy scene and it was an absolute honor to be able to shoot their wedding. As you can imagine, there were ton’s of laughs and lots of expressive emotion – a real pleasure to shoot and so nice to see people in love.
There was a shot floating around the internet last week of a bridal party being chased by a dinosaur. It’s funny, admittedly. So here’ s our take on the idea…mostly because Leslie (and us) are huge Star Wars nerds! We couldn’t resist their bridal party getting chased by a squad of Imperial AT-AT Walkers! lol. So for all you Star Wars fans, this ones for you. Click the thumbnail to enlarge.
Here is the official story for the photo:
We (Danielle & Tony Lombardo) were getting ready to photograph (our long-time friends) Leslie Seiler & Paul Kingston’s wedding when we received a text from one of our staff photographers (Lisa Wiebe) with the photo-idea, knowing full-well that we are big Star Wars fans. It just so happens that we knew the bride is a huge Star Wars fan too, so when we pitched the idea to them, they instantly agreed.
The next thing we knew, the crew was halting traffic on the busy street in front of their venue (fittingly, an old movie theatre converted to event venue) and we told the bridal party to run as if gaint laser-firing robots were chasing them. It helped quite a bit that the the bride, groom and half their bridal party are professional actors/comedians/improvisors who could easily “sell” the terror and fear in their faces.
We shot it in one take, seeing as you only get one take when asking ladies to run for their lives in heels!
Back at the studio, Danielle & Tony photographed their son’s toy AT-AT under the exact same lighting conditions and meticulously photoshopped it into the background.
Had not all of these elements come together on the day we doubt it would have worked this well. It was truly a magical photo on a magical day.
